South Korea’s January 2022 hot rolled coil output down 7.8% mom

According to South Korean media reports, South Korea’s hot rolled coil production in January 2022 was 975,000 tons, a decrease of 7.8% from December 2021 and a decrease of 6.4% from the same period in 2021. In January, the production of hot-rolled coil by Posco and Hyundai Steel, two major South Korean steelmakers, decreased by 7.2% and 10.3%, respectively, from December 2021. South Korea’s hot-rolled coil exports in January 2022 were 295,000 tonnes, down 29.8% from the same period last year.
